Mounting a GoPro on a camera hot shoe for videography at weddings in South Wales

A hot shoe mount provides the perfect location for my GoPro camera. A hot shoe is located on the top of the camera and is designed to hold accessories like a flash or microphone, but by mounting my GoPro camera on the hot shoe, my gopro will remain in a fixed position throughout the day photographing everything I am shooting but instead recording video of the wedding. This has become ideal for short bursts of film that I want to capture such as the confetti shot in a wedding!

The HERO10 Black is capable of shooting 4K video at up to 60 frames per second (fps), which means I can capture high-quality footage at a smooth frame rate. This is perfect for capturing action-packed moments like dancing, running, or as mentioned above the confetti throw during a wedding day. In terms of slow motion video capabilities, the HERO10 Black can shoot 1080p video at up to 240 fps. This means you can slow down your footage to 10% of the original speed while maintaining smooth and detailed footage.

The camera also features HyperSmooth 4.0 video stabilisation, which uses advanced algorithms to smooth out camera shake and create buttery-smooth footage. This can be incredibly helpful when shooting handheld or mounted on the hot shoe of a DSLR camera. Another impressive feature of the HERO10 Black is its ability to capture time-lapse videos in 4K resolution. This can be a great way to capture the transformation of the wedding venue from empty to full of decorations and guests.

In terms of other specs, the HERO10 Black features a 23.6-megapixel sensor and can shoot still photos in RAW format. It also features a front-facing display, which makes it easy to see yourself when shooting selfies or making instagram reels of yourself working on a wedding day.

Here are another five great reasons to buy a GoPro if you are a wedding photographer !

1. Portability:

GoPro cameras are small and lightweight, making them easy to carry around and move to different locations throughout the wedding day. They can be attached to a variety of mounts, such as chest harnesses, helmets, and selfie sticks, allowing for creative and unique perspectives.

GoPro cameras have a wide-angle lens and can capture high-quality video and photos in a variety of settings, including low-light conditions. They can also shoot in slow motion and time-lapse mode, adding a cinematic feel to the wedding video.

This is a word that sits well when it comes to wedding photography! GoPro cameras are discreet and can be easily mounted in inconspicuous locations around the wedding venue, allowing for unobtrusive filming that won't interfere with the wedding ceremony or reception.

Multiple angles:

Because of their portability and versatility, GoPro cameras can be placed in multiple locations to capture different angles and perspectives of the wedding ceremony and reception. This allows for a more comprehensive and dynamic wedding video.

Unique footage:

Using GoPro cameras in a wedding video adds a unique and fun element to the final product. It allows for capturing candid moments and behind-the-scenes footage that may not have been possible with traditional cameras.
