Here is a list of my favourite top 10 castle wedding venues in South Wales:

Cardiff Castle

This iconic castle in the heart of Cardiff offers a beautiful wedding venue with stunning views of the city and its historic architecture. The ceremony room here is usually candle lit and up until recent years has been hard to shoot in natural light without the use of flash. Fortunately camera technology has improved with increases in iso meaning that now we can cover and focus well during the wedding ceremony.

Hensol Castle

This historic castle in the Vale of Glamorgan offers a stunning wedding venue with beautiful gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Hensol is my favourite castle wedding venue in South Wales. It not only offers the traditional castle look for a wedding but also offers so much more including a lake, that famous jetty and some wonderful interior styling. Its always an easy day with the camera working at this wedding venue.

Fonmon Castle

This beautiful castle in the Vale of Glamorgan offers a stunning wedding venue with a beautiful walled garden and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

St Donat's Castle

Another amazing wedding venue in South Wales, This historic castle near the beach in the Vale of Glamorgan offers a stunning wedding day experience with beautiful gardens and views of the sea and coastline. There are not many wedding venues where you get a wedding in a castle by the sea!  I've covered a few weddings here and the gardens remind me a lot of Portmeirion in North Wales.

Castell Coch

This is a small wedding venue that offers ceremonies only, The19th-century Gothic Revival castle near Cardiff has beautiful interiors and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. I've covered a few intimate small ceremony weddings here over the years working as a wedding photographer in South Wales.

Craig Y Nos Castle

I've lost count of the amount of weddings I've done here, this is an extremely popular wedding venue. A Victorian castle in the Brecon Beacons offers with a unique opera house ceremony room and stunning gardens.

Caerphilly Castle

This historic castle in the heart of Caerphilly offers a beautiful wedding venue with stunning views of its medieval architecture and surrounding countryside.

Chepstow Castle

This historic castle on the banks of the River Wye offers a stunning wedding venue with beautiful views of the river and surrounding countryside.

Margam Park

Although not technically a castle wedding venue it probably has the best staircase in South Wales for wedding photographers to work with! - The shots here can be absolutely incredible!

Penpont

This beautiful country house and castle in the Brecon Beacons National Park offers a stunning wedding venue with beautiful gardens and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

It wouldn't be Wales without a castle ! Castles in Wales have always been a popular choice when it comes to getting married! Over the years I've covered my fair share of castle weddings whilst working as a South Wales wedding photographer. From a photography perspective it can be both hard to shoot a castle wedding due to the dark lighting at some castle ceremony rooms but also equally rewarding when it comes to bride and groom portraits and wedding poses. Large old castle windows, towers and old stone work as well as archways and drawbridges make for some great backgrounds and scenery for wedding photography.

Its always been popular also to go to a castle just for photos on your wedding day. Weobly Castle for those getting married at Oldwalls, Gower is always an option with it being just a short drive away. I've probably done more castle shoots here than anywhere having covered countless weddings at Oldwalls.

Another castle which hardly anyone knows about is Oxwich castle hidden just up on the hill a stones throw from Oxwich bay Hotel. This gives brides a choice of having both castle and beach photos on your wedding day.
